Manitoba premieres highlight CSFF’s return to Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, January 13, 2015 – The seventh annual Canadian Sport Film Festival (CSFF) returns to Winnipeg on February 5-7. A night of feature films (Friday, Feb 6, Cinematheque, 7pm & 9pm), presented by RBC, is highlighted by the Manitoba premieres of two engaging documentary films. Meet the boys’ and girls’ teams from an inner-city rugby program in Los Angeles as they travel to New Zealand in “Red White Black & Blue” (7pm). “Next Goal Wins” (9pm) is the heartwarming story of the national men’s soccer team of American Samoa, the worst team in the world, and their attempt to win just one match. Stars from both films will participate in Q&As after each screening.

Two additional FREE events comprise the rest of CSFF’s Winnipeg program. A free screening of “Mighty Jerome”, about the Canadian sprinter Harry Jerome, and panel discussion will celebrate Black History Month (Thursday, Feb 5, Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, 6pm). Two nights later, CSFF returns to The Forks and its innovative “snowscreen” for a free screening (outdoors!) of a program of short films (Sat, Feb 7, 5:30pm, repeated at 7pm).
