Make a Difference with CSFF
The Canadian Sport Film Festival (CSFF) is seeking professionals who are looking to make a difference to join our Board of Directors.
For the CSFF Board, we are looking for action-oriented people who have a financial background and/or a governance/compliance background.
We have two volunteer Board positions currently available:

Canadian Sport Film Festival
TREASURER
CSFF Board Member – Treasurer
Canadian Sport Film Festival (CSFF)
Role: Board Member – Treasurer
Term: Two-year renewable term
Start date: Summer 2023
Status: Volunteer
Qualifications and Experience:
As a leader, you’re looking to volunteer with an organization committed to sharing powerful human stories from around the world about the impact of sport. You share CSFF’s vision of a global community that embraces sport for all.
You also have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy the challenge of moving an organization forward.
You are comfortable with and have experience in:
- not-for-profit management
- financial / audit / risk management
- strategic planning
- entrepreneurship
- communications
- a CA or CPA designation would be an asset
- experience within the sport or corporate community would be an asset
Expectations:
CSFF Directors are expected to commit the necessary time to attend board and/or committee meetings, the Annual General Meeting and other special meetings and participate in a board committee.
Specifically, we are seeking an individual who would be interested in taking on the role of Treasurer.
- Meetings take place online and occasionally in the downtown/midtown area of Toronto
- Meetings and preparation time take about 6 to 8 hours a month.
- Directors are expected to attend board meetings and review all materials distributed in advance of meetings.
- Directors are also expected to attend the annual Festival and support CSFF events throughout the year.
Treasurer – Responsibilities:
- The Treasurer receives all monies (donations, grants, awards, receivables) and makes deposits to the bank.
- The Treasurer completes all bookkeeping in CSFF’s chosen accounting software.
- The Treasurer prepares financial reports for the Board periodically throughout the year, reports the financial status of CSFF at each Board meeting, and presents the audited financials at year-end.
- The Treasurer issues cheques to employees and files tax forms prepared by the accounting firm.

Chair / Co-Chair – Responsibilities:
- The position of Chair or Co-Chair shall be nominated, and voted if necessary, by CSFF Board members.
- The Chair / Co-Chair (or designate) is the recognized spokesperson for the Board and has signing authority on legal financial documents.
- The Chair is responsible for organizing and facilitating all general Board meetings and Annual General Meetings, including preparing and distributing the agenda and meeting materials in advance of a meeting.
- The Chair ensures all Board members participate in meetings.
